About Hour 13
Hour13 is a group of four musicians who dedicate their spare time to expressing their artistic nature through solemn lyrics and melodic, semi-dark instrumental anthology. Each member originated from somewhat different backgrounds and musical experiences, yet they all share a common goal: Creating and performing harder alternative rock for anyone who will listen. Although no single member of the band is any more influential than another, their conception was two amateur guitarists named Matt Melton and Nick Brown meeting weekly to jam in a century old farm house in West Jordan, Utah. After writing “Once Home,” and “Chosen,” it was decided that the jam sessions should morph from play-time into something more. With the addition of their new drummer and highschool friend, Daren Johnson, the music dramatically shifted from poppy riffs that would embarrass any 80’s boy band member, to a harder version of alternative rock. It was time to find a bass player who possessed a creativity that would enhance the music further. The gods favored this band and James Ortega took his place as the final member of Hour13 in June 2008.
